Pre-procedure, Aftercare and Healing Process

Pre-procedure

Some of the common Contra-indications that prevent the treatment being performed are:

• Diabetes

• Epilepsy (last 2 years)

• Blood thinners

• Pregnancy

• Breastfeeding

• Skin damage

• Hepatitis A,B,C,D

• Skin disease/disorders

• Heart disease

• AIDS

• Roaccutane within the last year

• Keloid scars

24 hours prior and on the day of your procedure:

• Avoid alcohol, caffeine and paracetamol the day before & prior to the procedure, this will minimise any oozing/bleeding or swelling after the procedure

• Do not exercise on the day of your procedure as increased body heat will expand the pores.

• Do not take Aspirin, Fish Oil, Coumadin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, unless medically necessary.

• You will need to be off Accutane (Acne Medication) for 12 months prior to treatment.

• Any medical conditions have been disclosed at the time of booking

• You must not be pregnant or breast-feeding

• Allow plenty of time for your procedure

• Feel free to come with your eyebrows penciled in as you normally would wear them

• Ensure you are feeling well

• Come to your appointment alone

The two weeks leading up to your procedure:

• Do not tan or sunburn on any areas of planned treatment - tan causes exfoliation, and in turn sheds pigment with it. We cannot tattoo over burnt areas of skin. If you arrive for your appointment with signs of sunburn or sun tan, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment, and your deposit will be forfeited.

• Please note whilst on your menstrual cycle, you may become hyper-sensitive at the procedure site

• If you get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please leave a minimum of 7 days between that and your scheduled procedure. It is recommended to wait at least 14 days to have them waxed & 30 days for tinting after the procedure.

• Retina/retinol products, acidic cleansers, chemical peels will need to be stopped two weeks prior the procedure being carried out.

• Ensure your patch test has been completed and no reactions have occurred. And all forms have been filled in

Aftercare

The aftercare procedure is extremely important. The correct aftercare procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. If this is compromised in any way this will affect your healed result.

Keep in mind that in many cases some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the retouch visit.

Included in your initial treatment price as discussed in your consultation is one retouch only.

Any additional retouches needed after this will be charged at a fee of £75 within the first 5 months from your original 1st treatment date - No exceptions.

For the first evening after treatment ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied to the area to ease any swelling.

For the next 14 days

• NO SWEATING

• NO SWIMMING

• NO SUNBATHING

• NO SUNBEDS

• NO SAUNAS

• NO DIRECT SHOWER SPRAY

• KEEP THE AREA DRY

• NO MAKE UP SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE AREA TREATED

• Keep the area dry. Use muslin cloths when cleansing the face and avoid water on the area treated when in the shower.

• No Sweating/Exercise. Sweat contains salt which can prematurely fade your cosmetics. Saline is a treatment used to remove pigment from the skin in removal procedures. It can also cause pigment to blur/fade.

• Avoid direct shower contact on the treated area.

• Absolutely nothing should be applied to the treated area apart from the aftercare provided.

• Regular makeup can be worn immediately after your procedure, just not on the treated area until healed.

• Avoid exfoliating the treatment area for at least one month post treatment

• Avoid sleeping on treated area

• Only touch the treated areas with squeaky clean hands during the healing process

• The eyebrows WILL appear bolder immediately after the procedure. This is common in all Permanent Makeup applications. It will begin to soften up typically within 3-30 days

• Smoking WILL cause the pigment to fade prematurely and anaesthetics will not last as long

You may experience the following for 72 hrs after your treatment.

• Tenderness

• Dryness and itchiness in the treated area

• Redness or bruising

Daily care procedure for the next two weeks.

• There is a 5 hour golden window that promotes healing. Immediately after the treatment Amy will apply MicroGel to the area treated. For the first 6 hours leave the treated area alone, only blot with MicroTonic or cooled boiled water if you notice lymph fluid in the treated area. Do not touch with dirty hands.

• After the first 6 hours apply the MicroTonic gently with cotton pads 2/3 times a day, pat dry then apply MicroBalm straight after. When applying MicroBalm use cotton buds or clean fingers, apply a small amount to promote healing and prevent scabbing. Do not over moisturise as this will have a negative effect on your brows, only apply a tiny amount.

• Continue to apply the MicroTonic gently with cotton pads 2/3 times a day for the next 72 hours, followed by the MicrBalm.

• After 72 hours stop using the MicroTonic but continue to use MicroBalm for the next 28 days.

• We recommend you use a gentle facial cleanser to clean the skin around the treated area during the healing period. This can be removed with a muslin cloth to avoid getting the treated area wet. You must not attempt to apply any make up, creams, ointments (apart from what Amy has provided) onto your treatment area.

• Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH the treated area as the colour may heal unevenly and you risk scaring and infection. Allow the wound to flake on its own.

Long term care

• Use a good factor 50 sun screen when in the sun. On holiday wear a hat, sunglasses and your factor 50 to cover the cosmetics. Sun exposure and sunbeds will fade your cosmetics.

• Avoid using harsh exfoliating products on your cosmetics.

• If you are planning a chemical peel or a MRI scan please inform your GP of your permanent cosmetics.

• Please inform the national blood service if you donate blood as you may not be eligible.

• Lightly exfoliate your brows (once healed) once a month to remove dead skin cells and keep your colour looking bright.

• Avoid applying foundation to your cosmetics as this can make them appear dull.
